Story
It has been
nearly fifteen years since the war between the orcs and humans ended.
An uneasy peace settled over the land while, for years, the drums of war
were silent. Yet the kingdoms of men grew complacent in their victory
- and slowly, the defeated orcish clans regrouped under the banner of
a new visionary leader.
Now a darker
shadow has fallen over the world, threatening to extinguish all life -
all hope. The drums of war play upon the winds once again - rising urgently
towards the inevitable hour when the skies will rain fire - and the world
will tremble before the coming of the Burning Legion.
The Day of
Judgment has come...

Game Highlights
The
Culling
This is how trouble usually starts. Prince Arthas decides that he
can do it all by himself, against better judgement from the celebrated
paladin Uther the Lightbringer. The evil starts taking hold of Arthas,
as he banishes Uther from his army, and loses his friend Jaina in
the way.

Frostmourne
Arthas gets into more trouble, this time by not taking heed to a warning
from Muradin that tells him that the sword Frostmourne is cursed.
Thinking that only by wielding Frostmourne can he lead his people
to victory, Arthas pledges his bond with the sword which immediately
starts to consume his soul to claim Arthas for the cause of the Lich
King.

The
Summoning
Under the influence of his new weapon, Arthas does a lot of errands
for his Lich King. He starts by killing his father King Terenas, and
after helping to summon the evil Archimonde at the end of his damned
campaign, he realises rather pathetically what force he has brought
to this world. A force that is both beyond his control and also rather
evident that it will bring the destruction of the world that he has
worked so hard to protect.

Thrall
meets Hellscream
At the same time, that same demon curse starts losing its grip on
the orcs which have been under its influence since crossing into this
world through the dark portal. Thrall starts to hear the call of the
oracle and wants to complete his quest towards enlightenment. After
meeting his brother-in-arms, the bloodthirsty Grom Hellscream, he
at first convinces Grom to accompany him in his quest and stay away
from picking up fights with the humans.

Hellscream
causes havoc
Not only does not he pick fights with humans, but when left alone
Grom starts a battle with the night elves. Cenarius, the protector
of the forest is enraged and starts razing orcish buildings to the
ground. While trying to defend himself against Cenarius' wrath, Hellscream
finds out that by drinking from a nearby fountain he has become strong
enough to fight back. Of course he did not know that the fountain
was polluted by the diseased blood of Mannaroth, curse included.

The
Oracle gives good advice
After revealing his errors of ages past, the oracle Medivh suggests
that everyone join forces to combat a common foe. Aided by the tauren
leader Cairne Bloodhoof, Thrall and Jaina work together to first remove
Grom's curse and then counter back the evil attack by sending their
orc and human armies in the forests.

Stormrage
Awakened
The first reaction of the night elves is to throw everyone out of
their forest. However the undead seem a much larger danger when they
start to approach the area where Furion Stormrage lies sleeping in
his barrow den to set up their base. Guided by his lover Tyrande,
the night elves try to awaken Furion before their world is doomed.

Twilight
of The Gods
As battle rages on, and the love bound night elves realise that the
orcs and humans are also sacrificing themselves to protect their world,
Tyrande joins Thrall and Jaina Proudmoore to setup their defences
against the undead, while giving enough time to Furion to setup up
his trap at the top of Hyjal mountain.

Ending
Can't say that the ending is of the same quality as the epic introduction
or the game itself. However, it serves its purpose, which is that
to leave Medivh with a story to tell his grandchildren naturally.
Still, the player is also rewarded with a number of outtakes during
the credits at the end of the game, amongst them a re-enactment of
the Warcraft 2 intro.
