Better Flash Gaming Experience

— I have made some modifications to the Flash Games Arcade, hoping to provide you with a better playing experience.

First of all, I made the screen wider. With the current graphic card resolutions, I can surely accomodate another column for listing games on the home page and so reducing the height of the page that you have to scroll down to. Also because of the wider page, you also get a larger playing area, which is definitely the largest gain of this exercise. I have also added a search feature, which you can use to help you find a particular game instead of having to scroll down looking for it.

In a less drastic change, I have also reshuffled the information on the page header in order to gain a little bit of additional pixels for the important stuff. Now stop reading this and go play some flash games!

Gaming Fiesta

— Out of the four casual games that I installed and played this month, I have enjoyed the one called Turbo Fiesta the most. Yes, it is still very similar to Turbo Pizza and Turbo Subs, but it still sets my pulse racing with its frantic play. The new features don't bring that much of an addition to the successful formula, although it seems that the series has been fine-tuned as far as possible. In short, this is an unmissable game, especially if you never played the first two in the series.

The next game in my list is Elf Bowling: Hawaiian Vacation. It's a fun game, although it starts to get a bit repetitive a little too soon. Where it does shine though, is in the multiplayer mode. Definitely a great party game.

The last two games are pretty similar. Diner Dash Seasonal Snack Pack and Sally's Spa are also sequels of successful time managament games. I consider Diner Dash to be the perfect example of the genre, but this version is now showing itself to be too much of the same thing. Sally is also pretty much a repetition, and still working her arse off whilst her helpers just shrug off their tasks.

More about Android

The year of the Android

— Recent mobile OS ratings show that Symbian is the clear winner in market share* with 57.1%, followed by RIM 17.4%, Windows Mobile 12%, Linux 7.3%, Mac OS X 2.8%, Palm OS 2.3% and the remaining 1.1% covered by minor vendors.

That is all set to change drastically within the next year as Google's Android is set to make its appearance. Whatever the features that it will provide, Android is sure to take a piece of the cake because people will be inclined to try it out. With news of the first Android-powered phones starting to hit the market, the time when the androids take over the earth will soon be upon us.

Starcraft

— Whilst most probably I will be either doing one of this year's sixteen school assignments or studying for the final exams, you lucky bastards will be able to enjoy Starcraft II when it is released in 2009. I don't consider that fair at all.

As Blizzard (the game's developers), in my opinion, are dropping hints that their massive game World of Warcraft is starting to loose its power financially, they will surely give their best shot at making Starcraft II the best RTS game ever. And you know what? In all probability it will just be that way.

There's not much detailed information about how the game will really work out yet, but it's bound to appear some time or other on the official Starcraft II website.
